Reverse light switch?

Question:

For a considerable amount of time, I've been trying to solve a mystery. Now, please help me!
On a ribcased gearbox, where is the reverse light switch supposed to be mounted and what is the correct part no?

I have tested two different switchmodels but have not been able to find out where they belong. I mean, my car (-73)has got reverse lights mounted so there has to be a way...

Answers:

The switch is mounted in the gearchange remote control housing,
right at the very top, where the gear lever comes out. It screws
in from the front, and the 2 wires run forwards, and are held in
a clip on one of the mounting studs.

But only the Midget rib-case gearbox had the switch - the same
rib-case gearbox used on the Morris 1000 has a different remote
control housing catsing, with NO switch. The M 1000 had different
gear ratios, but from the outside this is the only way of tellng
the difference.

I also had trouble trying to find it so in the end I attached a mickey mouse switch on the side of the radio console. Obviously, this is not 100% satisfactory but is better than nothing - at least I can warn people behind me that I intend to back-up. Oh yes, I also connected a loud buzzer to it to remind me to turn the switch off.

I've painted my lenses red from the inside with glass stain from the local craft store and will wire them into my brakelight circuit to warn tailgaters of my slowing and stopping. I figure loud pipes to warn that my car will soon be in motion.
