Ignition light turns on at idle

Question:

Since a day or two my ignition light (charge indicator)
sometimes switches on. If I rev more than 2500 rpm's the
light dims again. It's a revised alternator (but I don't
know exactly when), the fan belt tension is good, there is
no slip of the belt. I shall try to change the regulator,
but what else can it be since the regulator
is electronical.
Any expirience or suggestions?

Answers:

According to my '69 owner's manual, the charge indicator will normally light at idle. This is nothing to worry about if you have a generator (dyno). If you have an alternator, though, I don't know if there's a problem.

My light usually comes on at idle.... especially if I have the headlights on. I have a '74 (alternator) and have never had a problem as long as the alternator belt is tight.

Another possibility should be checked..the ignition switch
could be going out. Mine self destructed about a year ago
and burnt the wiring harness up..It was turning on the ignition
light and starter while driving.I then found out that the
switches were no longer made. I rebuilt and reinstalled the
old one, but it is now turning on the igintion light and
starter again and last week burnt up the starter..(New ones
are now avail and one is on the way)
