I started rebuilding a set of HS2 (AUD502) on the back of the throttle butterfly there is a blob of solder.
Is this factory or someone's mod ? or just a counter weight?
How much throttle shaft play is to much ? What is the best kit for rebuilding ? Who is good at rebushing throttle shafts ? SU's are for "72" 1275.
The last thing is float hight in Haynes is 1/8" to3/16" at the end of the float, the workshop manual shows 1/8"-3/16"
pin in the center of the float. Were do you check the hight?
Anything I should wach out for when rebuilding?
THANKS GUYS.
>is this factory or someone's mod ? or just a counter weight?
This is not factory. It may be that someone has installed later
butterfly with a spring-loaded relief valve, and has soldered
it closed. Or - is the solder to hold the bifurcated screws?
>How much throttle shaft play is to much ?
More that 3-5 thou. But in any case, play in the shaft only
affects idle or near-idle set up, since with a high vacuum,
air leaks past. It really does not make any difference 'on
the move'.
>What is the best kit for rebuilding ?
Never used one - I have bought individual pieces, from Aldon
here in the UK. Any supplier who can get hold of the original
items shoudl be OK
>Who is good at rebushing throttle shafts ?
Can't help with this - but in any case, if you've got worn shafts,
try replacing them; you might not need to re-bush the carb
housing.
